It's ok to start over again
Starting over can be pretty scary, frustrating, and sometimes embarrassing. However, it's essential to realize that beyond the initial discomfort, there are better opportunities waiting for us on the other side of the mountain. Remaining stuck in a dead-end situation, fully aware that progress towards the top is unlikely, is not a path you want to tread. Instead of resigning yourself to discomfort, it's often wiser to descend the mountain and begin the ascent once again.
Naval Ravikant, on a podcast with Tim Ferriss, hit the nail on the head:
“The hard parts are not the learning, it is the unlearning. It’s not the climbing up the mountain. It’s the going back down to the bottom of the mountain and starting over. It’s the beginner’s mind that every great artist, or every great business person has, which is: you have to be willing to start from scratch. You have to be willing to hit reset and go back to zero.” — Naval Ravikant
Ravikant's words capture the essence of the situation perfectly. If you're struggling with the decision of pivoting or starting from scratch, then this is for you. Learn the skill of saying - "That was a good idea, but I have a better one now." It's a superpower!
