Cast your net again, this time by faith
“When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.” - Luke 5:4-7 (NIV)
Have you grown weary that you don’t even desire to cast your net again? The world constantly tells us it is pointless to keep doing the same thing repeatedly and expect a different result. How about you take a different approach and cast your net again but this time, in obedience to God and putting your faith and trust in him.
Look, I don't know what the Lord might be speaking to you about. Perhaps it's, "Apply for that job again." Perhaps it's, "Work on the marriage." Perhaps it's, "Reach out to that family member again about Christ.”
I don't know what it might be, but maybe for you, you're sitting before the Lord saying, "Lord, I've tried before. I've attempted it before." But put it this way, "At your word, I will try again. And perhaps by the grace of God, you'll see God do things that were not done before.
When Jesus directs our work, we see results; and we always miss something great when we make excuses instead of allowing Jesus to direct our work.
Cast your nets again, give away control of the outcomes. But make no mistake, effort is always a part of the process. God will crown our efforts when paired with faith.
